OnePlus 5T becomes the company’s fastest selling smartphone
OnePlus has announced record-breaking launch day sales of the OnePlus 5T, achieved within just six hours of the device being on sale. The company broke the news via Twitter, though it didn’t reveal how many devices had been sold.
The OnePlus 5T was released globally yesterday and it’s the second device in its T-range of smartphones. Like the OnePlus 3T released last November, the 5T arrives as an upgraded version of the latest device in the regular OnePlus flagship series — in this case, that’s the previously released OnePlus 5, which will be discontinued once it’s out of stock.
It comes with a new design thanks to the implementation of an 18:9 display, and an improved rear-camera sensor, while maintaining the same core internal specs as the OnePlus 5.

The 5T’s launch success is a somewhat surprising development given that the OnePlus 5T is a mid-cycle update device, with relatively few improvements from the preceding OnePlus phone. It’s slightly more expensive than the OnePlus 5, too.
Perhaps, following the OnePlus 3T’s arrival last year, fans waited for the T-branded phone to appear this year and decided to side-step the OnePlus 5 — or maybe it is simply the prospect of a bezel-less display with OnePlus hardware that has excited consumers.
Similarly, the OnePlus 5 also had record breaking sales for OnePlus earlier this year, being the previous fastest-selling OnePlus phone and setting a launch week sales record for Amazon India.
You can pick up the OnePlus 5T at OnePlus.net right now for $499 (6 GB/64 GB model) or $559 (8 GB/128 GB model) and you can view other availability details here.
