Former GOP Congressman Says Trump Is "Dead" if Dreamers Aren't Deported

The president is infuriating his hard-right base.

Former U.S. Rep. Joe Walsh (R-IL), who is affiliated with the Tea Party movement, had a meltdown on MSNBC about President Donald Trump's apparent shift in immigration policy.

The president reportedly hammered out an agreement with Democrats to save the recipients of former President Barack Obama's Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, popularly called "Dreamers."

The alleged deal, which Trump disputes was finalized, did not include funding for the president's proposed border wall.

Walsh was apoplectic.

“This was the essence of his campaign. If he betrays that promise, he’s dead. He is dead amongst his base, millions and millions of voters will abandon him," Walsh said. “If he goes back on this, I think he’s through."
