Intern Lays Into Jeff Sessions in Newly Unearthed Video from the Department of Justice
An internal Department of Justice video shows Attorney General Jeff Sessions growing frustrated at DOJ interns who asked him sharp questions about both police brutality and federal marijuana policy.
The video, which was filmed over the summer and obtained by ABC News, features one DOJ intern pointing out that police in the United States are even more feared than criminals among some low-income communities.
“I grew up in a project to a single mother,” said one intern, who attends the University of California, Berkeley. “And the people who we are afraid of are not necessarily our neighbors, but the police.”
“Well, that may be the view in Berkeley, but it’s not the view in most places,” Sessions said.
The intern went on to explain that this wasn’t just an issue at Berkeley, and he pointed an incident in Columbus, Ohio, where an officer was caught on video stomping on a restrained suspect’s head.
Also during the event, another intern asked Sessions why he supports cracking down on legalized marijuana, which she noted killed vastly fewer people each year than legal firearms.
Sessions sarcastically called the intern “Dr. Whatever Your Name Is” and said that “I don’t think America’s going to be a better place if marijuana’s sold in every corner grocery store.”
