Jake Tapper Criticizes Congress for Inaction on Gun Control After Las Vegas Attack

Lawmakers continue to drag their feet.

CNN's Jake Tapper told viewers that his reporting on the Las Vegas mass shooting did not mark the first time he had to report that such an attack was the "deadliest mass shooting in modern American history."

The last time he reported a "deadliest" shooting was only last year in Orlando following the Pulse massacre, which found 49 people murdered in an LGBT nightclub.

Tapper used his platform Monday to focus on inaction from legislators amid a pattern of deadly gun massacres in the U.S.

“I wish I could tell you this is the last time I’m ever going to report to you about the deadliest mass shorting in modern American history, but I cannot tell you that,” Tapper said.

He continued by criticizing lawmakers for doing nothing to address the problem.

“I wish I could report that lawmakers are huddling right now to try to figure out how to do everything they constitutionally can to keep these weapons of mass murder out of the hands of violently insane individuals who use them to harm innocent people, but they are not doing that."
