Watch the RNC Chair Repeatedly Avoid Saying Roy Moore's Name on Camera

She would only call him "the candidate."

CNN's Randi Kaye spoke to RNC chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel about Republican Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore, and the exchange was incredibly awkward.

McDaniel refused to say that she believed Moore was innocent of sexual assault when asked. Instead, she explained that the RNC serves at the behest of the White House.

She also studiously avoided saying Moore's name when discussing him.

McDaniel called Moore "the candidate" and seemed uninterested in offering him even a modicum of personal support.

Former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, McDaniel's uncle, has said that Moore "would be a stain on the GOP and on the nation."
