Russell Simmons, Co-Founder of Def Jam Recordings, Faces Rape Allegations from Four Women
Russell Simmons, the co-founder of Def Jam Recordings, faces accusations of rape from four women amid two new reports from the New York Times and Los Angeles Times.
All four rape accusers are previous colleagues. The New York Times and Los Angeles Times cite numerous corroborating sources to confirm contemporaneous knowledge of the alledged rapes and misconduct allegations.
The alleged rapes are reported to have occurred between 1983 and 1996. The most recent allegation of sexual misconduct is from 2016. Simmons is accused of sexual misconduct of varying degrees by a total of nine women in the new reports.
Simmons denies all allegations of rape. He stepped down from Def Jam Records and other professional roles after sexual misconduct allegations began to emerge earlier in 2017.
