Rachel Maddow Connects the Dots Between Russia-Linked Lawyer and Trump's Bill Maher Lawsuit
MSNBC host Rachel Maddow wants to know what's going on with lawyer Scott Balber. The lawyer linked to the infamous Trump Tower meeting between Donald Trump Jr. and Russian officials is the same one who represented Donald Trump in his 2013 lawsuit against HBO host Bill Maher.
“Maybe there was just the one time but he was Trump’s lawyer on something like that," Maddow said. "He is now representing the Russian side of the Trump Tower meeting, where the top echelon of the Trump campaign took a meeting with Russian officials to get assistance in the election including dirt on Hillary Clinton.”
Balber responded to an inquiry about whether there was any connection between his representing Trump and, later, Russian oligarchs with a dismissive sentence: “Nice try, but absolutely no connection whatsoever."
Maddow responded, “[W]hen somebody who used to be the president’s lawyer, quite recently, turns up in the middle of that investigation representing the Russian side, that seems like something that requires more than ‘nice try’ as an explanation.”
