CNN Panel Destroys Kellyanne Conway’s 'Bonkers' Bob Corker Criticism
President Donald Trump’s adviser Kellyanne Conway criticized Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN) for his “irresponsible” tweets about the president — and the irony was not lost on Anderson Cooper and his assembled panel on Monday
“World leaders see that,” Conway said of Corker’s tweets calling the White House an adult day care. “We all worked with Sen. Corker over the years and we thank him for his service, but I find tweets like this to be incredibly irresponsible.”
“And that happened,” host Anderson Cooper said after playing a clip from Conway’s Monday morning “Fox & Friends” interview. “The irony, of course, is for Kellyanne Conway to be saying Bob Corker’s tweet is irresponsible yet to completely back the president on all of his tweets.”
USA Today columnist Kirsten Powers agreed with Cooper, saying the juxtaposition is “completely bonkers.”
“I don’t think what Bob Corker did was senatorial or mature or really an appropriate way to respond,” Powers continued, “but neither is pretty much everything Donald Trump tweets.”
“There’s never been a tweet that she didn’t figure out some way to justify, defend, be outraged that anybody didn’t understand,” former Obama aide Van Jones chimed in. “Her whole shtick is getting out there and defending this stuff. So for her to then wander out into the vast tundra of American society and begin lecturing or hectoring anybody about anything on Twitter is ludicrous.”
