Trump Just Couldn't Resist Trashing Obama in His New 'Call for Unity'

The president brags that the American people are now "proud once again."

President Donald Trump made another vacuous call for unity in his speech to the National Convention of the American Legion.

He stuck closely to prepared remarks and avoided any of the unhinged comments that punctuated his rally Tuesday night in Phoenix, Arizona.

Trump discussed veterans' issues and Afghanistan. But he made nods to American heritage and culture that seemed to echo his defense of Confederate statues.

The president also made an out-of-the-blue dig at President Barack Obama, claiming people are "proud" again of America. For no good reason at all, he added, "I must say, much more proud than they were last year at this time."
