Angela Lansbury teases a new episode of Murder, She Wrote

Murder, She Wrote has been part of of our lives for as long as anyone can remember.

Even though the series officially ended in 1996, it can still be found playing on various channels somewhere sometime every day.

But amateur armchair detectives who are still hungry for a bit more sleuthing will be thrilled to know there could be a new episode of Murder, She Wrote on its way.

Or so acting legend and star of the series Dame Angela Lansbury has hinted.

As you all know, the acting superstar played English teacher-turned-mystery-solving-author  Jessica Fletcher for twelve years of crime solving.

That’s 264 episodes plus an additional four feature length post series TV movies.

But even though Jessica had solved more murders than she’d had hot dinners, 91-year old Angela says she would love to reprise the role for one last time.

“I was in genuine tears doing my last scene,” she told the Sunday Post.

“Jessica Fletcher has become so much a part of my life, it was difficult to come to terms with it being over.

“Having said that, there have been some two hour specials since we stopped in 1996 and I wouldn’t be surprised if we got together just one more time.”

During the 80s and 90s, the show was a ratings smash in the US and UK, and Angela, who’s career had already spanned decades, became a much loved household name for viewers of all ages.

“I was amazed at how successful it was,” she said.

“I never believe it would run 12 years.

“I would not want to take anything away from Murder, She Wrote but when you are the principal in something like that you have to work incredibly hard to keep fresh.

“My life totally revolved around it. here was hardly any time off and certainly no time to energy for doing anything else.

“You can get trapped.”
