My baby’s tongue tie
I recently noticed a fleshy band that seemed to tie my four weeks old baby’s tongue to the floor of the mouth. Even though he can freely move his tongue, I am worried if the tongue tie will not disturb his speech in future. In view of this I want to know if I should ask a doctor to cut off the tie.

Tongue-tie (ankyloglossia), may not always cause problems. However, some cases may require a simple surgical procedure for correction. In your son’s case, since he can freely move his tongue, I don’t think that he would need any surgery. However, you may still take him to see a doctor for a second opinion.
