The OnePlus 5T Star Wars edition is real and will land December 14
Google recently released a variant of its Pixel 2 smartphone that was dubbed “Stormtrooper” thanks to its black and white color scheme, but OnePlus is about to one-up it with a proper Star Wars tie-in handset. The OnePlus 5T Star Wars edition is a limited version of the company’s latest flagship, revealed over the weekend by OnePlus India.
The handset will launch on December 14 before going on sale on December 15 (the same day Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi hits theatres) via the OnePlus store, Amazon.in and other outlets. It houses a white rear with black and red highlights, and what looks like a Star Wars software theme with custom-made wallpaper. Information on price and storage variants hasn’t yet been discussed.
OnePlus will also host an event on December 14 at the IMAX Wadala in Mumbai where fans will receive drinks, snacks, free goodies and get to see the phone in action — tickets will cost Rs. 999 (~$15) and will go on sale December 7.
Given the proximity of the phone’s launch day to Star Wars: The Last Jedi hitting cinemas, and that it’s only been revealed in India so far, it’s likely that it’s not going to see a wider release (if it was, the news probably would have been announced already).
