Samsung and LG expected to launch their midrange lineup at CES 2018
- Samsung and LG are rumored to launch their new midrange phones in January at CES 2018
- These would be the Galaxy A8 (2018) and A8 Plus (2018) from Samsung, and K10 (2018) from LG
- The handsets are expected to go on sale later in January
The 2018 Consumer Electronics Show, also known as CES, is just around on the corner and we’re expecting a whole bunch of exciting announcements (you can find out exactly what we’re hoping to see here). The South Korean giants Samsung and LG are also set to be there next month, but rather than launch new flagship phones — something which will probably happen slightly later at MWC 2018 — the pair are expected to release something a little less flashy.
According to etnews, both LG and Samsung would have their latest midrange devices on show at the Las Vegas conference: with Samsung, these would be the new A8 and A8 Plus, while LG is said to deliver a new device in its K series.
The Galaxy A8 (2018) and A8 Plus (2018) are set to be full-screen, 18:9 handsets at a less-than-premium price. This series broke cover recently in a video (though it appears to have now been removed) and leaked images, and are anticipated to replace the A5 and A7 devices filling out Samsung’s mid-tier.
Meanwhile, LG may launch a successor to its K10 from January 2016. The K10 (2018) is rumored to feature a 5.3-inch, 1080p display, 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage, plus FM radio. This handset could also be LG’s first midrange handset to feature its recent mobile payments system, LG Pay.
Both LG and Samsung’s aforementioned phones are expected to be released mid-to-late January after their CES unveiling. Have any of these devices piqued your interest? Let us know in the comments.
