Huawei launches holiday sale: discounts on Mate 9, Honor 6x and more

As the holiday shopping season continues, there’s still plenty of bargains for tech gift buyers to grab, even after the Black Friday-Cyber Monday period. Huawei is launching a major sale that is going on now through December 23. Huawei is offering big discounts on many of its phones, smartwatches, Android tablets, and Windows notebooks.

Here’s a quick look at the products that are a part of the sale.

Huawei Mate 9

The large 5.9-inch display on the Huawei Mate 9 is the standout feature on this phone. However, it also has some heavy duty hardware inside, such as Huawei’s own Kirin 960 octa-core processor, 4 GB of RAM, 64 gB of storage, and more. It also includes a design that features large, narrow vertical bezels and a slim profile that should make it easier to hold and handle compared with other phones that have the same display size. Finally, it has access to Amazon’s Alexa digital assistant after a software upgrade.

Huawei Honor 6x

 
The Honor 6x, with its big 5.5-inch 1080p display, its long-lasting 3,340 battery, its metal construction, its dual-SIM support and super fast fingerprint sensor, still gives many other budget phones a run for their money. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this device is its rear-facing dual camera setup, which features 12 and 2 MP sensors. While every dual-camera setup utilizes the secondary camera differently, the 6X uses the 2 MP sensor to capture depth information that can be taken advantage of when using the camera’s wide aperture mode.

Huawei Watch 2 Sport/Classic

 
The Huawei Watch 2 models, nicely show off the capabilities of Android Wear 2.0. Both include a 1.2-inch AMOLED screen with 390 x 390 resolution, along with a Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor,  768 MB of RAM. and 4 GB of storage. They also have NFC hardware, which means you can pay for stuff on the watch via Android Pay.  The big difference between the Sport and Classic versions is that the Sport also includes support for adding a SIM card to connect to an LTE cellular network, while the Classic model does not. The Classic does get three days of battery life, versus just two days for the Sport model.
 
During the Huawei holiday sale from Dec. 10-23, you can get the Honor 6x for $120 off its normal $299 price, while the Classic model will get a $150 discount off its normal $369.99 price at a number of online retailers, including Amazon, Best Buy and others.
 
 
The big Hauwei holiday sale is not limited to these popular products. It also include discounts on the Huawei Band Pro 2 fitness wearable, a number of its MediaPad tablets, and its Matebook  Windows notebooks. Again, the sales run from Dec 10-23.
