Another day, another problem: the latest complaint involves Pixel 2 cameras showing odd flickering and banding under LED lights.

It feels as though since the official announcement of the Pixel 2 duo, not a day goes by without a new issue rising. It started with the display of the Pixel 2 XL: namely, the new LG-made OLED panel seemed washed out and had uneven display artifacts. The search giant quickly responded with an option to enable a “saturated” color mode, but this was only the beginning. From burn-in issues to mysterious crackling noises to inability to register taps, the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL have been hotly-debated devices for all the wrong reasons (in fact, we even have a separate piece showcasing all the problems!). And now, it’s their cameras.

According to several users online, some Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL cameras are showing odd behavior with LED lights. As you can see from the video above, there is flickering and banding on and near LED lighting. According to the user who posted this video, both the front- and rear-facing cameras are affected whether it’s a photo or a video. On the Pixel User Community thread, some users point out that this may be due to the AC frequency on aircrafts, but others are quick to rebut that the problem persists outside aircrafts, in everyday situations.

A Google representative has since escalated issue, but it’s particularly unfortunate since the primary selling point for the Pixel series has always been their camera performance.

Does your Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL have the same issue? What’s happening with the Pixel 2 duo? Let us know your thoughts by leaving a comment below!
