Nicolle Wallace Isn't Buying Trump's 'Idiocy and Incompetence' Defense About Ex-Campaigners

The president's administration can't just pretend that no one knew anything.

MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace, who served in President George W. Bush's administration, is astounded by the legal defense President Donald Trump's administration is using in public after former associates were arrested in Bob Mueller's Russia probe.

Trump's team is trying to downplay the role of individuals like Paul Manafort and George Papadopoulos while claiming ignorance of their alleged illegal behaviors.

But Wallace used Manafort's multiple passports as a since example in a pattern of red flag behavior Trump can't avoid through claiming he didn't know anything.

“All of this is part of what prosecutors call his history of deceptive and misleading conduct. Something the Trump team has purported to know nothing about when they hired him to chair their campaign,” Wallace said. “[T]hat their idiocy and incompetence is now a legal defense boggles my mind.”
