Here Are the Top 5 Foods Killing the Planet

Climate change is real, and the food on our plates is a major cause.

The science is in: Climate change is real, and the food on our plates is a major cause. The debate is over.

Since the Trump administration won’t take action—even pulling the United States out of the Paris Agreement—it’s up to us to make choices that will help stave off climate change.

Simply by ditching animal products we can make a huge difference. Don’t believe us? Consider this: Raising animals for food produces more greenhouse gas emissions than all the cars, planes and other forms of transportation combined.

According to the Natural Resources Defense Council, these are the five most climate-damaging foods:

4. Shellfish (11.7 kg Co2e per kg)

5. Cheese (9.8 kg Co2e per kg)

Notice what these all have in common? That’s right: They’re all foods made from animals.

Just by going vegan, you can cut your carbon footprint in half.

And you’ll not only help the planet but also spare countless animals from a lifetime of misery at factory farms. Pigs, chickens, cows and other farmed animals suffer immensely just to become meat, dairy and eggs.

These innocent animals face unimaginable cruelties: extreme confinement, brutal mutilations and bloody, violent deaths.

Take a look:

Let’s all do our part to help protect the planet and farmed animals by switching to a healthy plant-based diet.
