Amazon Music app gets Google Chromecast support
Amazon and Google may be rivals but it would be good if they could sometimes play nice together. In September, Google pulled YouTube from Amazon’s new Echo Show device saying Amazon’s implementation of it had violated its terms of service. Amazon wasn’t happy.
When it was revealed that Google might be working on a competing product, it stood to sour Amazon’s feelings towards the company further. Recent news suggests, however, that Amazon is once again working on its relationship with Google — or at least that it can profit from Google’s products.
In its latest update, the Amazon Music app has now added support for the Google Chromecast, meaning you’ll be able to play Amazon Music tracks through your Chromecast enabled devices using your Android phone.
Of course, this support makes sense for both the companies and their consumers: Google gets another compatible service for its Chromecast while Amazon pleases owners (or future owners) of Google’s product. It’s a similar process that would apply to watching YouTube on an Echo Show, or listening to Google Play Music on an Amazon Echo… so let’s hope we’re going to see that arrive in the future.
