Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman Calls Trump an 'Embarrassment' and 'Disgusting' After Puerto Rico Visit

She held nothing back.

Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-NJ) was furious after seeing President Donald Trump’s trip to hurricane ravaged Puerto Rico Wednesday.

In an interview with SiriusXM Progress host Dean Obeidallah, the New Jersey Representative explained that New Jersey has the third largest number of Puerto Ricans than any state. Those in her district are concerned about the government’s response to the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, which hit the island Sept. 20.

“I think he is disgustingly inappropriate and unprepared,” she told Obeidallah. “He has no depth of thinking, no compassion, no moral core…He is absolutely disgusting and he is an embarrassment as President of the United States of America and he make me sick to my stomach.”

Trump was heavily criticized during the trip for focusing not on the survivors or the desperate people on the island but in requests for praise for the government.

“He doesn’t surprise me, he just disgusts me and he continues to sink lower and lower and lower,” Coleman went on.

The death toll in Puerto Rico nearly doubled to 34 overnight and is expected to increase. The island has been unable to reach many people due to collapsed roads and downed power lines.

“Everything collapsed,” director of Puerto Rico safety and public protection, Héctor Pesquera told The Washington Post. “Everything collapsed simultaneously.”
