Carter Page Will Plead Fifth, Refuse to Answer Senate Intel Committee Questions About Russia

This looks really bad for the president.

Ousted White House foreign policy advisor Carter Page is refusing to cooperative with the Senate Intelligence Committee investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election, Politico reports.

Donald Trump, Jr and Jared Kushner have met with the committee in closed door sessions.

The committee declined to comment on the development.

Committee Chair Richard Burr (R-NC) and Vice Chair Mark Warner (D-VA) have threatened use subpoenas to compel testimony from witnesses who refuse to cooperate.

This development appears to mark a change in legal posture towards congressional investigators, ABC News reported in May that Page was “more than cooperating” with the House Intelligence Committee.

Page has been referred to as “chump change” with FBI investigators more focused on White House higher-ups.

Trump White House counsel Donald McGahn demanded Page stop referring to himself as an “advisor” after news broke of Page meeting with Russian agents.
