Jon Hamm Says Trump Tried to Intimidate Him at an 'SNL' Party
Actor Jon Hamm said President Donald Trump tried to intimidate him at a “Saturday Night Live” party in November of 2015.
According to the New York Times, Hamm — who played lothario ad executive Don Draper on the AMC series “Mad Men” — wasn’t having any of then-candidate Trump’s outsized attitude.
“He was with Bill O’Reilly,” Hamm told the Times. “They’re both tall dudes. And I’m a tall dude. And they both do that tall-dude thing, which is to try to intimidate you. And it doesn’t work on me. I’m like, ‘I’m as alpha as you. Let’s go. You’re not going to chest-bump me.’ It was a very weird night. It was the shortest I’ve ever stayed at an ‘SNL’ afterparty.”
The Hill reported that Trump’s son Donald Trump, Jr. tried to defend his father’s honor, tweeting, “Pro tip: If you have to tell others you’re an alpha… you’re not.”
Donald Trump, Jr. went before a Congressional committee last week as part of the investigation into his and his father’s campaign’s contacts with Russia during and after the 2016 election.
In college — much like his father — Trump Jr. had few friends and was known for the accidents and embarrassing mishaps that often took place due to his excessive drinking. He reportedly earned the sobriquet “Diaper Don” after he passed out and urinated on himself on multiple occasions.
