Jimmy Kimmel Is Convinced Trump Doesn't Have the Faintest Idea What's in the Latest Trumpcare Bill

The late-night host's third Graham-Cassidy monologue may be his best yet.

Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel continued his attack on the Republican Party’s health care plan to repeal and replace Obamacare. He reiterated his claims that Republicans have refuted.

Dripping with condescension, Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) mocked Kimmel’s understanding of the bill and encouraged him to stick to late-night comedy. Kimmel, who’s no stranger to navigating the healthcare system after his son Billy was born with a congenital heart defect. Wednesday night, however, President Donald Trump got involved.

In a tweet, he claimed that he wouldn’t sign the GOP bill if it didn’t fully insure those with preexisting conditions.

Kimmel explained that for Trump, this has nothing to do with the bill itself. It could be the lost country of Nambia for all he knows. All he wants is to “repeal and replace Obamacare,” as he promised on the campaign trail.

“It’s about getting rid of Obamacare, which he hates, primarily because it’s got Obama’s name on it. He likes his name on things,” Kimmel said, citing Trump’s buildings and series of products. “At this point he would sign anything that meant getting rid of Obamacare. He’d sign copies of the Quran at the Barnes and Noble in Fallujah if it meant he could get rid of Obamacare.”

After Kimmel went after Cassidy, Trump provided a tweet of support saying, “Senator (Doctor) Bill Cassidy is a class act who really cares about people and their Health(care), he doesn’t lie-just wants to help people!”

Kimmel was excited to hear it, so he tweeted back.

Understandably, Kimmel hasn’t yet received a response from Trump or Cassidy. Meanwhile, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said that Trump is laser-focused on healthcare, but Kimmel said it’s more like Trump’s a cat playing with a laser pointer jumping all over the place.

“I guarantee he doesn’t know anything about this Graham/Cassidy bill,” Kimmel said. “He doesn’t know the difference between Medicare and Medicaid. He barely knows the difference between Melania and Ivanka.”

Finally, Kimmel tackled the attacks he’s been getting personally for coming out against this bill.

“A lot of people have been saying I’m not qualified to talk about this and that is true, I’m not qualified to talk about this,” he continued. “But I think those people forget, Bill Cassidy named this test after me. Am I supposed to just be quiet about that?”

He went on to say he can’t understand why he has to keep reminding people he isn’t an expert. However, he showed all of the lists of organizations of experts opposing the bill.

“I should not be the guy you go to for information on health care,” Kimmel confessed. “And if these guys, like inbred [Sen.] John Kennedy (R-LA), would tell the truth for a change, I wouldn’t have to. I see these comments from these angry people, they say ‘What qualified you to talk about this stuff? You’re a comedian, go back to being not funny.’ And I feel like it’s my duty to remind these people, who are so concerned about my qualifications, the guy you voted for for president? His job qualification was this.”

Kimmel then played a clip of Trump firing rocker Meatloaf.

“OK? He fired Meatloaf on television. Then you put him in the White House,” Kimmel said.
