Hurricane Irma reached Florida on Sunday and is moving up the northwestern coast as a tropical storm with winds of up to 70 mph.

The National Hurricane Center forecast suggests Irma will become a tropical depression by Tuesday afternoon.

Some 6.3 million people in Florida were ordered to evacuate before Irma's arrival, according to the Florida Division of Emergency Management.

The photos and videos below offer a glimpse of the destruction Irma has wrought in the state.
