Jessie T. Usher Joins Samuel L. Jackson in 'Son of Shaft'

Jessie T. Usher is teaming up with Samuel L. Jackson for the upcoming film Son of Shaft!

The 25-year-old actor will play the son of detective John Shaft, Deadline reports.

Samuel will reprise the role he played in the John Singleton-directed reboot of the Gordon Parks-directed 1971 action movie. Richard Roundtree will be returning as well.

Jessie appeared in Independence Day: Resurgence and also stars in the Starz series Survivor’s Remorse.

In Son of Shaft, Jessie‘s character, “after long being estranged from his father, finds himself teamed up with him. The young man is an FBI agent, a cyber expert, and the partnership with dad is an uneasy collision of old school meets new school.”

Director Tim Story plans to begin production later this fall.
