Jerry Lewis Dead - Legendary Comedian Passes Away at 91

Jerry Lewis, comic and movie star who launched a successful career in the 1950s and 1960s, has passed away at the age of 91.

He passed today (August 20), at 9:15 a.m. at his home in Las Vegas, Nevada. His family confirmed the news in a statement to a Las Vegas Review-Journal reporter, stating, “Legendary entertainer Jerry Lewis passed away peacefully today of natural causes at 91 at his home [with] family by his side.”

Jerry rose to stardom in the 1950s when he teamed with singer Dean Martin to create the comedy duo Martin and Lewis. They ended up headlining 16 films together including At War With the Army (1950), Sailor Beware (1952), The Caddy (1953), Living It Up (1954), You’re Never Too Young (1955), Hollywood or Bust (1956) and more.

After the duo stopped performing together, Jerry went on to start a solo career and skyrocketed with 1963’s The Nutty Professor. More recently, Jerry starred in Cookie (1989), Arizona Dream (1993), Funny Bones (1995), Max Rose (2016), and The Trust (2016).
