HTC U11 to get 60 FPS video recording in the next few months (Update: now rolling out)

The 664 MB update introduces the latest Android security patch, as well as the improved video recording, but it has only been seen on the Hong Kong variant of the U11 for now. Still, it’s positive news and indicates that the rollouts in other territories should be coming soon — watch out for it hitting devices in the US any day.
HTC took to Twitter to announce that every HTC U11 device will be getting 60 FPS video recording support over the next couple of months.

While DxOMark scores are a bit controversial, HTC set a new record with the U11, which scored a first-ever 90 in terms of its photo- and video-capturing capabilities. The Taiwanese company’s flagship already offers 30 and 120 FPS recording, and combined with its hardware optical stabilization and advanced audio features, it offers one of the best camera experiences out there, as seen in our review.
Well, according to HTC, things are about to get even better: the company announced yesterday on Twitter that every HTC U11 device around the world will be receiving an update over the next few months, which will bring 60 FPS video recording support:

As you may already know, 60 FPS means that you will see 60 rendered frames per second instead of 30, resulting in a much smoother video. Although I’m sure many of you were hoping for a more concrete release date, it’s nice to see that HTC is making sure the HTC U11’s already-impressive camera stays competitive in the market.
The HTC U11, which was unveiled back in May, comes with a 5.5-inch QHD display and 12-megapixel Dual-Pixel camera, powered by a Snapdragon 835 chipset and a 3,000 mAh battery. But what makes this device truly stand out is probably its squeezable frame, which can double as an app shortcut, summoning AI assistants like Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.
