EastEnders Sharon causes a stir among fans because of a potato

EastEnders viewers were gripped last night as Phil Mitchell and wife Sharon faced a race against time to rescue Phil’s daughter Louise, who had been kidnapped by her unstable mum, Lisa Fowler.

But Sharon managed to find time to prepare dinner for them during their hunt – and it turns out her potato peeling methods didn’t impress fans of the soap at all.

While Louise was locked in a hotel room with Lisa, begging her mum to let her seek medical help, Sharon took a moment to make sure Phil was keeping his strength up.

She set about peeling a potato while he sat at the kitchen table ranting about Lisa and the need to find Louise.

And fans immediately headed over to Twitter to express their horror at how she’d completed the task.

“More annoyed about how Sharon is peeling that potato with a knife #eastenders,” said one viewer. “[Sharon] was struggling there,” said another.

“Who still peels potatoes, Sharon,” asked a third, while a fourth said: “Sharon just butchered that potato.”

“Sharon can’t peel potatoes for [expletive],” another quipped.

Of course the more dramatic part of the episode was in fact the search for Louise. After it became clear Lisa had stopped taking her medication, Louise started to panic.

“I feel like I’m dying,” she told her mum, who eventually agreed to let her leave.

But seeing what a state Lisa was in, Lou decided to stay and together they hid under the table, with Louise’s condition growing worse by the minute.

Fortunately it was Bex to the rescue as she found a piece of paper with something on it that led Phil and Sharon to the hotel where Lisa and Louise were.

At first Lou told her dad to go away, but when Phil managed to get inside the room it wasn’t a moment too soon as a very poorly Louise collapsed.

Lisa was also ill in the corner, but Phil didn’t care a jot about that, ranting at her: “Open your eyes and look at what you’ve done. I swear, if she dies, I will track you down and I will break you, you stupid, weak, pathetic woman.”

At that moment Sharon and the paramedic (who had arrived incredibly quickly) arrived and Sharon stepped in to defend Lisa, telling Phil the woman was ill.

EastEnders have confirmed this is the last we will see of Lisa for the time being as Lucy Benjamin’s return was only for this storyline.

But what will happen to Louise and Phil now? Can they put this behind them and move on?
