Ant McPartlin’s mam has reportedly moved in following his release from rehab…

We all need our mums when the chips are down and Ant McPartlin is no different after the last few weeks of turmoil he’s endured.

As he continues to battle back to normality following a long fight with drugs and depression, he’s apparently moved his mum into his home to help keep his chin up.

He’s just left rehab after around two months away from the spotlight being treated for addiction to prescription painkillers after injuring his leg.

Speaking in his interview with The Sun last week, he admitted that he was fast losing control.

Thankfully, the 41-year-old is now well on his way to full recovery and should be back to full-strength come the start of this year’s I’m A Celebrity.

For now though, The Sun reports, he’ll be keeping himself to himself and building his strength back up with the help of mum, Christine.

She brought Ant and his younger sister Sarah up on hardly any money, living on a council estate after their dad, Raymond, walked out on the family.

Ant said his mum is happy to be holding his hand at this tough time.

“She’s happy to have me back. People do notice the difference in you when you’re down and depressed.

“She noticed it. She said she’s really happy to have her old son back, which is nice to hear.”

It’s been reported on some news sites that Ant has fallen out with his wife and childhood sweetheart Lisa, who is spending her time at work rather than caring for her hubby. But that’s a load of rubbish and Ant says she’s coped “amazingly”.

Lisa works as a highly-respected make-up artist and is currenty on Strictly so she’s very busy getting ready for the show to launch.

Ant said: “I’ve put Lisa through hell with mood swings and depression and how it affects you.

“I’m very sorry about the effect it has on partners. This kind of stuff puts strains on any marriage. In hindsight, I should have mentioned it earlier but you’re embarrassed about it.”

Pushed a little on whether his marriage could stay intact despite the obvious challenges, Ant gave the slightly cryptic but hopeful answer: “All I can say at the moment is that she’s been amazing — fantastic throughout.

“And we’re good. I was desperately worried about Lisa in rehab. But they start introducing phone calls after a few weeks.

“This is something that I’ve gone through, I’ve done it. I’ve stuck to it. I’m proud of doing it. There’s a very positive outcome which is great.

“Lisa has gone back to work. She’s got all the pre-filming for Strictly next week.

“She’s been very supportive. As has Dec. Time will tell [about the marriage]. It’s very personal, isn’t it.”
