We’ll stamp out terrorism in N’East – Air force chief

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, has said that the military will soon stamp out terrorism in the North-East.

Abubakar explained that the military had continued to show commitment towards ensuring that the country’s territory was safe, adding that the nation was already winning the war against terrorism.

The NAF boss, who made this remark on Friday, while commissioning a one-by-30 unit building at the 115 Special Operations Group, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, assured that insurgency in Nigeria would soon be a thing of the past.

He said, “Certainly, we are winning the war against terrorism in the North-East. If you look at where we are coming from in 2014, when convoys of 15-20 Hilux vehicles were moving, ravaging and killing villagers, you’ll agree that we are winning.

“We are doing everything possible to contain the insurgency.”

Abubakar dismissed claims in some quarters that the military had suffered collateral damage during the ongoing fight against terrorism.

According to him, rather than spread false allegations, the Nigerian military should be encouraged for their selfless service to the country.

He said, “We have highly committed Nigerians out there, working day and night to make sure the country is safe; making sure that no territory of Nigeria is under the control of any personality than the government.”
