Arsene Wenger may be concerned by the drawn-out contract negotiations with some of his key players but he can have no complaints with how his pre-season tour is going so far.

Arsenal left Australia with two wins in three days, both courtesy of impressive performances from senior players and academy graduates hoping to break into the first team.

Now, though, comes the first big test. Wenger and Carlo Ancelotti meet for the first team since the Germans humiliated Arsenal in the Champions League, beating them 10-2 over two legs.

Wenger will be proud of his team dug in to grind out a result there, even if large swathes of the performance were pretty unimpressive.

Iwobi and Cech’s performances were the highlights for Arsenal while Elneny and Maitland-Niles both managed to play 90 minutes for the first time on tour.
