'The Walking Dead' season 8 trailer teases one of the saddest moments from the comics

AMC released the first season eight trailer for "The Walking Dead" at Comic-Con, and while many have focused on the final moments of the teaser, there's a brief moment which signals the end for another character.
About four minutes into the trailer, we see Shiva, King Ezekiel's faithful tiger, taking down several zombies.

Fans may be happy to see Ezekiel's tiger finally in action, but comic fans may be hesitant to see Shiva's return to screen for a good reason.

During Rick's war with Negan, Shiva comes to Ezekiel's aid when he finds himself trapped within a group of walkers. While Ezekiel escapes in issue #118, things don't turn out so well for Shiva who gets devoured by the zombies.

Shiva's death is made all the more heart-wrenching by a narration from Ezekiel in which he recalls how he made it out alive. He claims his tiger pet, who he had been caring for since the zombie apocalypse, knew she was sacrificing her life for him.
While the scene shown in the trailer could be another one of Shiva taking down some zombies, we'd be extremely surprised if the tiger makes it through the war. Shiva's only in the comics for a short ten issues before meeting her demise.
The season eight premiere of "The Walking Dead" will air on AMC October 22.
