No fewer than six persons reportedly died in an auto crash which occurred on Monday at the Sagamu interchange, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The six persons, one male and five females, were a driver and passengers of a commercial Nissan Quest Sport Utility Vehicle with number plate, FKJ 297 AJ.

The commercial vehicle was said to be coming from the Lagos end of the expressway before the incident happened.

The Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Babatunde Akinbiyi, said the driver of the commercial vehicle was speeding.

He explained that the speeding vehicle rammed into a moving Iveco truck with number plate, LND 902 XE.

He added that all the passengers in the SUV died.

He said, “The accident was caused by speeding on the part of the commercial driver. He subsequently rammed his car into a moving Iveco truck from behind, killing all the occupants.

“I cannot say where the vehicle was travelling to, but it was coming from Lagos.”

Akinbiyi said the corpses of the victims had been deposited in the mortuary of the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu, Ogun State.
