Police nab UNIPORT student, three others for kidnapping

Men of the Rivers State Police Command have arrested a final year student of the University of Port Harcourt and three others for alleged kidnapping.

The student was said to have been apprehended by men of the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team based on a tip-off.

It was gathered that the students and others were involved in the abduction of one Blessing Kime inside a church in Rumuekini, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.

A community source stated that the student, whose name had not been disclosed, was an armourer, who also ran errand for kidnappers.

It was learnt that Kime was released on June 16, 2017 after staying in the kidnappers’ den for about three days.

Sources stated that ransom was allegedly paid before Kime finally regained her freedom.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Nnamdi Omoni, could not be reached immediately to confirm the kidnap of the student and three others.
