'Orphan Black' Creator Speaks About [Spoiler's] Shocking Death

SPOILER ALERT – don’t continue reading if you haven’t watched the latest episode of Orphan Black.

Orphan Black‘s latest episode aired last night and revealed the death of Felix and Sarah’s beloved foster mother Mrs. S, played by actress Maria Doyle Kennedy.

Mrs. S was shot by Ferdinand after he was betrayed by Rachel. The two were in a shooting match and while Mrs. S did get in some shots, she was ultimately killed.

Creator Graeme Manson spoke with EW about the shocking death.

“If you track the story and you track the story of Sarah and Mrs. S, we’re telling a generational story now. Ultimately, we’re telling that story about Sarah’s journey, and to step into those big shoes of her mother is really the strongest journey that Sarah can make. So, there was a drop in the writer’s room. There was one of those moments of deep breath when the idea came up because it’s our final season. Someone has to go, and this made sense. And the first phone calls that we made were to Tatiana and to Maria to talk about this, and everybody had the same reaction — that gut reaction that this was the gut punch the series needed,” Graeme told the publication.
