Meet 'Power' Actor J.R. Ramirez with These 10 Fun Facts (Exclusive)

Starz is currently airing the fourth season of its hit series Power and we caught up with one of the show’s stars, J.R. Ramirez, to learn more about him!

Here are the 10 Fun Facts that J.R. shared exclusively with us:

• 1. I was born in Cuba and my family and I moved to the States when I was three months old.
• 2. I’m an only child.
• 3. I grew up in Tampa, Florida.
• 4. I have a two-year-old Schnauzer mix that I adopted in Los Angeles named Freddy. He is my best friend.
• 5. I worked as a waiter/bartender at almost every restaurant L.A. has to offer. Every time I’d apply to a new restaurant, I’d book an acting gig or national commercial so I almost never made it past training.

• 6. I’ve been playing tennis since I was 9. One of my favorite hobbies.
• 7. 50 Cent‘s first album was one of my favorite albums of all time, so getting to work with him has been such an awesome experience – although it’s tough to keep a straight face because he jokes all day long!
• 8. The first scene Power ever shot was with Joseph Sikora and me. He’s hands down one of the most talented actors I’ve had the pleasure to work with.
• 9. My favorite actor of all time is Daniel Day-Lewis. He does a movie once every five years and wins an Oscar. He’s a true master of his craft.
• 10. Unfortunately, I’m a die hard Bucs fan. There’s hope this coming year!
• Bonus fact: I broke my hand shooting episode 6 of Power (“New Man” airs July 30).
