IBM urges organisations to embrace hybrid cloud innovation

Technology company, IBM, has encouraged organisations to embrace hybrid cloud innovation as a platform for technology modernisation.

The Chief Technical officer, IBM Middle East and Africa, Anthony Butler, stated that technology had gone far from being expenditure to a source of competitive advantage, saying that organisations needed to rethink technology options to achieve customer satisfaction.

“Businesses need to stay more agile in order to succeed in the new business world. Instead of being victims to technological disruptions, organisations need to leverage the cloud’s cognitive ability to transform their business experiences, to create smarter applications and services, to accelerate data intelligence innovation and optimise infrastructure,” he added.

The Country General Manager, IBM West Africa, Dipo Faulker, said that 72 per cent of businesses were vulnerable to technology disruptions within three years of their operation.

He therefore called for the adoption of cloud technology as a platform for growth.

He said, “Human adaptability has fallen behind the pace of change set by technology; and for organisations to win, they must increase value of structured and unstructured data by putting the right workload on cloud.”

The IBM Data and Data Sales Leader, Zeeshan Mehadi, said addressing every new persona was essential for the success of businesses in the new age.

He stated that transformation would bring a shift in expectations, “hence businesses need a transformation strategy that embraces risk taking.”

The Cloud Service Leader, Central West Africa, IBM, Yusuf Assenjee, said that the firm was leading the shift from tactical Information Technology to strategic IT through IBM Cloud.

Assenjee said that IBM was driving innovation with advanced set of products based on new architecture driving applications, Artificial Intelligence, and cloud.
