Fayose presidency
The Apapo Egbe Omo Ekiti (Ekiti Collectives), a socio-cultural group, has thrown its weight behind the aspiration of Governor Ayodele Fayose to vie for the presidency in 2019.
The group also urged political parties in the state to pick their candidates from the South Senatorial District for the 2018 governorship election.
APEK stated this in a communique made available on Friday at the end of its general meeting held in Ado Ekiti.
The communique was signed by the Secretary General, Kunle Bamiteko; Public Relations Officer, Omodan Oladele; and Director of Organising and Operation, Ifasanmi Omowaye.
According to the group, conceding the governorship slot to the area will strengthen Ekiti as a homogenous state and further enhance peaceful co-existence and unity.
“The call for support of the south agenda is without prejudice. The north and central districts have been privileged to produce four of their illustrious sons as executive governors of Ekiti State for 20 years by October 2018, whereas the south has not had the privilege to produce a governor even for one day.”
