Agip restates commitment to diversification of Nigerian economy

Multinational oil giant, Nigerian Agip Oil Ccompany, has said that encouraging small and medium business owners through annual leadership workshops is one of its important programmes in supporting the country’s economy.
The Vice Chairman /Managing Director, Agip in Nigeria, Mr. Massimo Insulla, who spoke during a two-day business leadership workshop for small and medium business owners in Owerri, the Imo State capital, said that the company had diversified into other areas of capacity development with special interest in developing capacities for owners of small and medium businesses, and community content.
Insulla explained that the company’s decision to opt for diversification was to entrench Small and Medium-scale Enterprises for community content and sustainability.
He said, “For the next two days, we shall be having the business leadership workshop, which is designed to be an inspirational programme for business excellence.
“Selected business role models will be sharing their success stories, challenges and critical factors to business survival and sustainability in the prevailing Nigerian economic environment, especially in the oil and gas sector of the Niger Delta region.”
He stated that the multinational oil company had been in the vanguard of promoting local content development and social responsibility in the territories where it operates.
“We are an energy company and we are working to build a future where everyone can access energy resources efficiently and sustainably. We believe in the value of long term partnerships with countries and communities where we operate,” Insulla added.
The Chief Executive Officer, Oando Energy Resources, Olapade Durotoye, said that the annual workshop, which was established in 2016, had encouraged significant growth in promoting Nigerian content development and corporate social responsibility through human capacity building.
