Sokoto gubernitorial: Court affirms Tambuwal as Governor

Justice Gabriel Kolawole of the Federal High Court in Abuja has put paid to the legal dispute over the Sokoto state governorship seat between Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and another All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in the 2015 general elections, Senator Umaru Dahiru.

Justice Kolawole, in a 69-page judgment also delivered on Thursday held that Tambuwal was validly elected as the Sokoto state governorship candidate of the APC at the December 4, 2014 primary election of the party.

The court held that the plaintiff, Senator Umaru Dahiru failed to prove the allegation of irregularities resulting from non compliance to the Electoral Act, the constitution as well as the APC constitution and guidelines for the conduct of the primary elections.
