‘I can’t cope with my husband’s irresponsible act any longer’

A thirty-four-year-old apprentice, Mrs Olanike Taye, has told Gbaremu Customary Court, Ijokodo, Ibadan, Oyo State, she can no longer cope with her husband’s irresponsible and uncaring attitude.

“I got married to my husband four years ago and the marriage is blessed with a child.

“I want to separate from my husband because he doesn’t care for me despite the fact that I am pregnant..  He is also not ready to pay for my antenatal appointments and our child’s school fees.

“He ordered me to take our child to live with his sister who also resides in Ibadan, but I declined. He thus packed out my belongings and since then I have been living with my mother, “she stated.

The court asked the plaintiff, how she came about the pregnancy and she responded, “I don’t know. He must have hypnotised me in order to have s3x with me.”

The defendant was absent in court.

The court president, Mr Olalere Fadugba, after listening to the plaintiff stated that it was obvious the love between the couple had waned.

He, therefore, dissolved the union and ordered the defendant to give N5, 000 monthly as their child’s feeding allowance and take care of the plaintiff’s  pregnancy by giving her N5,000  each month.
